A connected solution
Digital Product Passports (DPPs) are set to transform fashion and textiles, bringing transparency, compliance and customer engagement together in one connected solution. Weavabel has partnered with Bombiix to deliver a fully integrated DPP solution that links your physical products to structured, accessible digital data.
From care label to digital passport
Most DPP platforms stop at the data. Weavabel goes further by connecting that data to the physical product itself.
The Digital Product Passport is generated within the same Weavabel care label order you already place, while Bombiix structures the product data behind it. The QR code that carries the passport is printed onto the care label or packaging, so the physical trim and the digital record are produced together as one process rather than bolted on afterwards.
For brands, this removes a step. The care label you already order becomes the data carrier for compliance, transparency and customer engagement, with no separate integration to manage. Explore Weavabel care labels.
What is a Digital Product Passport
A Digital Product Passport is a digital identity for your product.
It brings together key data across its lifecycle, from raw materials and production processes to sustainability performance and end-of-life guidance, accessible via a QR code or digital link.
This enables brands to:
- Share transparent product information
- Meet upcoming regulatory requirements
- Build trust with customers
- Support circularity and sustainability
Why Digital Product Passports matter
Compliance & regulation
Under the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Digital Product Passports are expected to become mandatory for textiles, with the delegated act anticipated in 2027 and compliance likely from 2028. The requirement applies to any product placed on the EU market, wherever the brand is based. Preparing now keeps you ahead of the deadline.
Transparency & trust
Consumers increasingly expect visibility into how products are made, sourced, and verified. Digital Product Passports provide clear, structured and accessible information at product level, from materials and origin to certifications and care guidance. By making this information easy to access and understand, brands can build credibility, strengthen customer confidence, and reduce the risk of greenwashing. Transparency becomes more than a requirement, it becomes a competitive advantage.
Brand differentiation
Stand out by turning product data into meaningful, engaging storytelling that connects with your audience. Digital Product Passports enable brands to communicate the value behind every product, from craftsmanship and sourcing to sustainability commitments, in a consistent and scalable way. This richer level of engagement not only enhances the customer experience but also reinforces brand identity, builds loyalty, and supports more informed purchasing decisions across every touchpoint.
Circularity & lifecycle
Support repair, resale, reuse, and recycling with accurate, product-level information that travels with each item throughout its lifecycle. Digital Product Passports provide the data needed to extend product longevity, including materials, care instructions, and end-of-life guidance, helping brands reduce waste and meet circularity goals. By enabling better decision-making at every stage, DPPs play a key role in creating more responsible, resource-efficient systems for the future.

Frequently asked DPP questions
What is a Digital Product Passport?
A Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a digital identity for a physical product. Accessed through a QR code or digital link, it brings together key information across the product’s lifecycle, from materials and origin to sustainability data, certifications and end-of-life guidance. For fashion and textiles, it gives brands a single, verifiable record they can share with customers and regulators.
What information does a Digital Product Passport contain?
A DPP typically holds the product’s materials and composition, origin and supply chain details, sustainability and environmental impact data, certifications and test results, and care, repair and end-of-life guidance. The exact data set follows the requirements set out under the EU’s ESPR for each product group.
When will Digital Product Passports become mandatory for textiles?
Textiles and apparel are named a first-wave priority under the EU’s ESPR 2025 to 2030 Working Plan. The delegated act setting the detailed textile requirements is expected around 2027, and because rules cannot apply until roughly 18 months after adoption, mandatory compliance is realistically no earlier than 2028. These dates are indicative until the act is confirmed, so preparing early is the safest approach.
Do Digital Product Passports apply to fashion and textiles?
Yes. Textiles and apparel are among the first product groups prioritised under the EU’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, which makes fashion and textile brands an early focus for DPP readiness.
Do brands outside the EU need a Digital Product Passport?
Yes, if they sell into the EU. The requirement applies to any product placed on the EU market, regardless of where the brand or manufacturer is based. Brands in the UK, US and elsewhere that sell into the EU will need a compliant Digital Product Passport for affected products.
How does a Digital Product Passport connect to a product label?
The passport is carried by a QR code printed onto the product’s care label or packaging. With Weavabel, that QR is generated within the same care label order you already place, while Bombiix structures the data behind it. The physical label and the digital record are produced together, so the label becomes the entry point to the product’s full data.
Is a Digital Product Passport software, or something more?
A DPP needs software to structure and host the data, but on its own that is only half the solution. A complete Digital Product Passport also needs a physical data carrier, the QR code on the product, to connect the record to the item in a customer’s hands. Weavabel and Bombiix provide both the data platform and the physical product identification, as one connected solution.
Who provides Digital Product Passport solutions?
A growing number of providers offer Digital Product Passport solutions, most focused on the software and data side. Weavabel and Bombiix combine both halves in one solution, pairing Bombiix’s DPP data platform with Weavabel’s labelling and supply chain expertise, so the data connects directly to the physical product.
How much does a Digital Product Passport cost?
It’s a simple subscription model for the system that gives you visibility and control without complexity. Monthly per-user pricing with full access to all platform functions, including the core Digital Product Passport (DPP), which is included in the standard subscription.
